From The Couch On A Saturday Afternoon

Sitting in my living room enjoying my second vodka-cranberry, the baking mid-afternoon Florida sun streaming through the oak trees, the British Open is killing time for me until the parties tonight. The day has been fascinating so far, but fully three people I know are having birthday celebrations all across The Sunshine Empire.

In the grocery store this mid-day, I stood pondering my frozen pizza choices in the freezer aisle as an overweight older woman on a scooter stood with her middle aged daughter behind me. I suddenly noticed that the middle aged daughter was walking around and around in this broad aisle in a perfect circle and would not stop. Round and round she went and would not stop unless her mother would ask her to reach for something. Long after I’d decided on a pizza I could not stop watching this bizarre spectacle in the reflection of the freezer case door, but I was also terrified that she would eventually careen into me on her orbit. On my way home I was passed by a rather expensive looking Audi. It was telling of the owner’s self deprecating humor that his vanity plate read, “IS IT IN.”

There’s a beer pong cook out in my future this evening, and a four day weekend coming up next week. So we’ll see what develops.

  1. That’s funny, I was just behind an Audi on Thursday. Except it was actually a Saturn that the owner had glued Audi circles onto. Missed photo op or would have blogginated it. Well done avoiding circlewoman, where will she strike next?
