The Sunshine Empire

So there’s a new hilarious meme that is floating around the Facebook. I was willing to let it slide the first time because it was posted from a relative that just had an uncle die. But after seeing it again I see that it’s viral so lets call this heinous shit for what it is. The “joke” goes like this:

“Dear Lord, This past year you have taken away my favorite actor Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farah Fawcett and my favorite salesman Billy Mays. I just wanted you to know that my favorite President is Obama. Amen ”

Let’s take the first part and analyze it. Patrick Swayze and Farah Fawcett are your favorite actor and actress respectively? Really? Are you all middle aged women from the mid-1980′s? I’ll give you Billy Mays though, I mean everyone loves a coke head right? But let’s get to the meat of this message. The person posting it is calling on the Lord God Almighty, creator of heaven and Earth, to kill another human being because they disagree with them politically. The posting person is also stating that they wish for the President of the United States to die, pure and simple. That is un-Christian, un-American, classless and disgusting in every way shape or form. I guess they felt adding the smiley face at the end gives it an air of hilarity. The simple fact remains that those who joked about George W. Bush’s death were part of the far left fringe. Joking about the death of President Obama is quite frankly part of mainstream conservatism and they need to be called on it. It’s evil, seditious, and not funny in any way shape or form.
