Footballtown TSE: Offseason Coaching Excitement

My football season is over now that the orange & blue and teal & black are no longer playing games, but the coaching carousel is keeping my interest this offseason. Our first stop on the carousel, Los Angeles. University of Southern California Trojans head coach Pete Carroll is leaving the program he led to multiple national titles and Heisman trophies to take over the reigns of the Seattle Seahawks. He claims his departure is un-related to the threat of NCAA sanctions that seem to be ominously hanging over USC, but Seattle seems to be the escape route for major college coaches looking to bail before their program is slapped with probation. In 1995, Dennis Erickson bailed on the University of Miami right as they were being put on probation for NCAA violations to take the Seahawk head coaching job.

The opening at USC caused more coaching awesomeness. Here in The Sunshine Empire the initial rumors were that longtime Jacksonville Jaguars head coach and USC alum Jack Del Rio could leave the Jags to become the Trojans head coach. TV’s Biggus Rickus made an offhand joke that it would be hilarious if former USC offensive coordinator, Tennessee head coach, and all around dickweed Lane Kiffin were to jump ship after one year and take the USC job. Lo and behold little Lane takes the USC job and leaves Rocky Top looking like fools. I hate all things Tennessee from their college team to their wretched pro-football team and I am reveling in the shambles they find themselves in. As Biggus Rickus said, this is karma for them trusting a snot nosed non-talent after firing Phil Fulmer. It just seems that everything works out in the end.
