The Sunshine Empire

I’ve been a listener of The Howard Stern Show for about four years now and have become a huge fan of comedian Artie Lange because of it. Artie’s demons are well chronicled for any listener of the show and it is being reported that Lange was admitted to the hospital after attempted suicide by self-stabbing. It reminded me of singer Elliot Smith’s untimely death and a vague bit of a song of his started rattling through my head. I was chatting with PDX’s own Jolemite, who also has been a huge fan of Elliot, and I advised that I had some song in my head of his.

That actually was the song I had in my head. To borrow a phrase from the movie Pootie Tang, Jolemite don’t need no words, don’t need no music to find the song that’s in your head. That being said this is the song by the late Elliot Smith on Conan many years ago.
