The Sunshine Empire

When you enter into the vows of matrimony, you should abide by those vows. There is no excuse for Tiger Woods cheating on his wife and I will never attempt to defend the actions themselves. I also understand that when the highest profile athlete in the world is revealed to have philandered and is caught in a messy domestic squabble, it obviously will be wall-to-wall salacious fodder for the entertainment garbage press. What I have had enough of is the pious moralizing that comes along with such a situation. Much like during the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal, those who are with sin are casting plenty of stones first.

The example of the Lewinsky scandal proves to us that many among those pillorying Tiger for his obvious transgressions have their own skeletons in their closets. Just look at several of the members of Congress that slammed Bill Clinton not just for the legal matter of his falsehoods at a grand jury, but the moral implications of his actions against his wife. People like now Senator John Ensign, and now Governor Mark Sanford have been embroiled in very tawdry extra-marital affairs of their own since their holier-than-thou moralizing during the late ’90′s. On Facebook I read a petition to prevent Tiger from moving to their two-bit small Florida town for cheating on his wife despite the fact Woods already has a crib in the sunshine state.

Those who are having so much fun trashing Tiger should read the book of John chapter 8. When the Pharisees brought a woman before Jesus who was accused of adultery that they said should be stoned to death for her crimes he replied, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” No one threw a stone at her. So all of you grandstanding moralizers should shut the hell up and mind your own business.
