Family Fun On A Rainy Wednesday Night
I usually have dinner with my parents every Wednesday night, but with my dad in the panhandle on business my mother called and asked if I didn’t mind stopping by my grandparents house to visit. My grandfather is powering his way through cancer treatments and they both are always great people to kick it with. So last rainy evening I rode over and when I got there the three were just finishing eating. Like any grandmother she asked if she could fix me a plate. I told her as she was in the kitchen that I was good for now as I had a late lunch. My mother looks at me and silently whispers, “she can’t hear you.” I just assume her hearing aid battery was going low or some such. I sat down and agreed to eat, and my grandmother again asks me a question as her back was too me. I answered and again my mother looks at me and whispers, “she can’t hear you.”
I looked at her and in full volume asked, “well then why are you whispering?”
