Sad For Conservatives When Waterloo Results In Napoleonic Win
Reading the news from this afternoon I’m wondering if the Republican master repeat 1994 play book should not be cast aside like the LSU defensive play book against Tim Tebow. This morning I discussed our fast forward political culture that blames Obama for not working miracles in 9 months. Those who are looking to take down Obama and the Democratic congress had views of Waterloo and 1994 in their eyes when their childish screaming in August took the President down by a couple of percentage points. But after this month of teabaggery the American people looked to conservatives and asked, “Ok, what would you do instead?” Sadly for conservatives they had no ideas of their own, only focus group tested scare words like “massive” and “government takeover.”
But facts have a way of ruining your fancy tea party. The public in terms of polling is clear, they want the bill passed and they are in favor of the public option. The only way you get around that is asking convoluted questions like, “Are you in favor of a public option if it allows Nazis to gay marry each other?” Doctors are overwhelmingly in favor of the bill and even two former senate republican leaders are for the bill. The only exception to this is former Tennessee (obviously) Senator and majority leader Bill Frist who as a surgeon initially said he would vote for the measure as politically difficult as it may be. Being a little bitch as he is he later back his way off that. He is the scion of a health care providing company empire.
The fact is Republicans are falling into political line in secret and this will be just like Bill Clinton’s first budget in ’93. They will publicly predict in four years this will lead to the end of the republic. Four years from now they will act like this bill was passed during George W. Bush’s administration.
