Huckabee Bears False Witness To Scaremonger On Health Care
I used to think that former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee was the level headed if not over religious Republican from the 2008 Presidential campaign. Yet he’s show himself to be of the same ilk of Republicans who will tell outright falsehoods to rally political opposition to President Obama’s health care reform effort. One I am shocked that a former minister and teacher of the Gospel and the word of God would bear false witness. If he were a fellow Catholic I would encourage him to get to confession pronto. Also, I’m shocked that he feels his supporters are that damn stupid. While admonishing Democrats for supposedly using the death of Senator Edward Kennedy to pass health care, then then goes right to using Senator Kennedy to try politically to argue against health care reform. No matter the fact that the rumors of euthanasia and “death panels” have been debunked so many times it’s approaching the concept of a flat Earth, Governor Huckabee says that under “Obamacare” that Senator Kennedy would have been encouraged to take a pain pill and die. Yet nobody asked the Governor for the exact page and the exact bill that says such a thing. He wasn’t asked because it’s an outright lie. I was told that Moses had been told by the Lord Almighty that thou shall not lie.
Even those against health care reform know it’s a bald faced lie. Whether Senator Kennedy was a federal employee or not, no plan states a person would be required to leave the coverage they have. That inconvenient truth is something that never get’s a factual retort from those who’s only effort is to stop the President’s plans purely to gain traction in Congress for their party. The Governor is arguing against a false belief regarding a single payer program akin to the British National Health Service despite the fact that the President is not pushing a National Health Service type system. Not to mention that it’s not true about the British system even if he was pushing it. The only retort is that, true it’s not in the bill but that is the secret aim of the bill. The other side NEVER brings any facts to back up their claims. Conservatives will not argue truly against the public option proposal because they know that the American public is in favor of a public option when it is explained truthfully to them. When presented with an argument for the public option, which would compete against private insurance (marking the only time Republicans will say the free market cannot work), conservatives give arguments against a single payer program. They are arguing against something that is not being proposed.
Seriously, if you really believe that the President of The United States secretly wants to euthanize senior citizens and veterans through a nationalized health care system and put Federal bureaucrats between you and your health care, then take your coloring books down to the latest birther meeting and let the adults discuss the issues. Oh, you forgot your foil hat. Watch out for black helicopters.
