On The Coming West Coast Swing And Health Care Proxy Wars
Well folks it’s Friday and it’s going to be a quiet weekend for me. With my trip to the west coast coming next Friday I’ve got work to do to prepare. Jolemite keeps coming up with new staggering excitement for my four day visit to Portland Oregon. It’s not like all the normal hot spots are enough, so why not some indoor cosmic mini-golf. What more awesomeness can PDX provide? I’m also looking forward to my favorite places in Portland, such as Backstage behind the Baghdad Theater, the Portland City Grill, and good old Mount Tabor.
Yet this weekend in Florida I would look for a Town Hall meeting to disrupt if my worthless Congressman actually held them. A proxy war is now being waged by astroturfing insurance company lobbyists and Union organizers, both of which claim that they are in the right and the other side are thugs. It seems that both sides are arguing separate arguments. Last night I was listening to Lou Dobbs on the radio and his guest said that most Americans don’t want the group that founded the U.S. postal service to manage their health care. Well not one of the bills in Congress have a single payer option so it’s a moot point, and although I know what she meant the U.S. Postal service was created by the founding fathers for the record. I thought we were cool with them.
It’s been cooler here in the Empire but I’m glad that the weather in Portland is looking to be more in line with what it should be and not the 107 degree temperatures that PDX had last week. Either way we’ll see you there.
