The Sunshine Empire

I’ve been doing some thinking on this Duval County GOP mess and me characterizing it as “racist.” I did some review after an exchange with one friend and a discussion with our man Justwill and have decided that it’s not best to characterize it as racist. It does show though the rank ignorance and paranoia of the Tea Party movement. Obama has been making what amounts to minor changes in the course of the country and many on the far right find that Democracy and the people of American have stopped listening to their crazy supply side economics and fundamentalist preaching moral high road actual low road world view. The country has moved on and all they can do is imagine that people didn’t actually vote overwhelmingly against the far right’s political views, only that somehow someone not born here has somehow hoodwinked the populace and they just have to show them the truth. If your “movement” was as big as you state you would have won the election in November. The comparing of President Obama to Hitler, while not racist per say, is just a reaction of those that cannot see the political reality in front of their faces. If the “movement” was so powerful you would have drawn more than a couple thousand people scattered around the conservative parts of the country with Lipton tied to their heads. Chicken Little is not the example to follow when trying to regain political power, and that’s really all those ignorant people are doing.

Aside from that the Duval County GOP is not off the hook for this and should be called out for their cowardice. They were proud to proclaim that they paid for the rally at the Jacksonville Landing, and retreated like mice when national outlets started to call them out for the signs. Either stand by your actions like men or admit to being the flip-floppers you are.
