The Sunshine Empire

Bob Graham’s notebooks are legendary in Florida politics, and I had my own personal experience with them. While on the campus of The University of Florida with my cousin, for a UF – FSU game, I ran into then Governor Graham. I was just a brash enough 8 year old to go up and introduce myself to the Governor of Florida. In our household politics was always discussed so I knew who he was. Eventually he took a picture with both of us and wrote down our names and addresses in one of his little notebooks. What I also remember about meeting him is that he was wearing a garnet and gold Izod tie. The colors of Florida State, with Gators all over it. A true politician playing both sides of the fence. Two weeks later we got a personal letter and not a form letter, along with an autographed photo. I trust the man’s notes.
