When The Rains Have Stopped, But Senate Democrats Still Running For Hills
It has been far from The Sunshine Empire around here since Saturday. Cold winds and heavy rains have been good for this mostly rain starved area, but things have been a mess on I-95 with several stretches of middle guard rail now resembling discarded bread twisty tie. The irony of all of this is I spoke with the President of the PDX Council for getting at the crowd like a lion in a cage, Jolemite, and he told us that the skies above the Pacific Northwest were clear and filled with Sunshine. Go figure my friends go figure.
I am also left trying to figure out how Senate Democrats have reverted to cowering little bitches in the face of the daunting 40 member Senate Republican caucus. Say what you will about whatever position you have on the closing of the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, it says nothing to the complete and utter cowardice that Senate Democrats have developed since January. All during the election season as Barack Obama was filling stadiums and generating huge support for the Democratic party, these Senate Democrats gladly patted his back and posed for pictures agreeing that it was time to end Guantanamo. This was the time when the adults would be back in charge of our security and not revert to petty dogmatic politics. But once Senate Republicans started political bloviating about the false premis of al-Qeada’s top command structure being dropped into the middle of a little league game in Skokie Illinois, Democrats started running for cover like it was the fall of 2002. They had the right idea when they all congratulated themselves in late January, if only they had the spine to stick with their campaign promises.
The rains have stopped. Retention ponds all across Northeast Florida will have an opportunity to digest some of the downpour of the last three days. Then, the rains begin again.
