Six Years On, And Nobody Seems To Care

This Friday marks the sixth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq, but I wonder if the NCAA tournament will be more noticed that day. Thousands and thousands have died, and no matter your feelings on the war whether for or against, nobody seems to notice that the war is still going. It is the consensus of most who return from Iraq that most U.S. soldiers feel forgotten. The security situation has improved greatly, and the last round of elections happened with little or no violence. Sunni’s are now participating grudgingly in the political process and the latest polls of the Iraqi people say they are increasingly optimistic, but does all of this make the choice to go in right? That’s an argument that has been discussed, but the war is actually still going. Americans are still dying and the war deserves our continued focus despite the improvements over five years after mission accomplished.
