The Sunshine Empire

Bloggers and news outlets have been rippling the “Obama’s going gray” story and it brought to mind one of my favorite conspiracies. About ten years ago I was dating a woman in a family of extremist Republicans from Long Island New York. This was during the Clinton impeachment saga and her father, a smarmy, obese tough-guy salesman was convince that a hair conspiracy was afoot. He insisted to me in all seriousness that Clinton was engaged in strategic dying of his hair depending on the situation he had to speak at. “You see, when he has to speak to victims of floods or that sort of thing, his hair is always whiter. Yet when he has to deal with voters on issues like health care and technology and when he’s dealing with young people it all of the sudden grows darker. Look you can see.”

Now I am reading that bloggers have begun claiming the same thing when it comes to Barack Obama’s hair I am laughing and thinking of fat Bob back in 1998. Oh also, uh, he’s 47. That’s when dudes go gray.
