On Peaceful Iraqi Elections And Pittsburgh Fans

As much as I was never in favor of the invasion of Iraq by my government, I have to say that it is wonderful to see the peaceful provincial elections in that country this weekend. Many pro-Iraq war conservatives will say that since there are elections happening 6 years after the invasion that it somehow vindicates the epic blunder that they undertook, I would just say this. This election was marked by less and less U.S. involvement. With troops not in the way they figured out how to manage. Progress six years later is not a vindication of the action, but it is none the less fantastic to see peaceful elections in Iraq. If they do in fact become a functioning democracy after all the death and destruction the action will not be all for not, but it certainly does not make it all worth it.

Also, congratulations to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now that I have said that please just shut the fuck up about it. Please do not become this generation’s Dallas Cowboy fan. I know I am a Florida Gator fan and most Florida fans are the same way but I lack a frame of reference so excuse me.
