The Sunshine Empire Economic Doom Report

A couple of thoughts on the stimulus package that passed the House this afternoon with absolutely no Republican votes. Part of me wants this to be a repeat of the 1993 federal budget that did not pass the House with a single Republican vote despite the prodding of then President Clinton(promptly resulting in the enormous growth and budget surpluses that we so hated), but I was uncomfortable with the last cure-all bailout package in October that has failed to improve jack shit. By my best estimate the stimulus will do nothing more than ensure the slow decade of recession that Japan endured during the 1990′s. But it will also keep a depression at bay. We also know that when the United States’ economy catches a cold, the rest of the world economy gets nasty SARS. But the debt involved in this would have made me vote against this stimulus package.

I applaud the President’s passion and work on this matter, it’s just my deep fear that a slapdash spending bill on top of spending bill on top of spending bill is just going to destroy the dollar. Then I’ll be forced to agree with those Ron Paul freaks and I’ll really feel alone at that point. Those fuckers in Davos better figure some magic potion up quick like.

  1. If I’ve said it once I will have said it twice momentarily, we need to move to the vagina standard.

  2. I think the bailout will do nothing but prolong a downward spiral. We’ve been in several fruitless wars for so long and not advancing our own civilization to the point that I do believe that a recession is well deserved. I think it might put our society back on track to be taken down a few pegs. I’ve never really understood why the “me me” mentality is so much more important than the “us us”. Why is it our way of life that we destroy humanity as a whole to benefit ourselves? I can’t understand it. Would someone please explain this to me? Also I really want to know what the vagina standard is.
