The Sunshine Empire

Anyone who is not perplexed by the selection of Leon Panetta as CIA Director, is not paying attention. It’s a bizarre choice that should be the first alarming thing about President-elect Barack Obama. I understand that anyone that would be the truly best choice for CIA Director is best for reasons we should never know. The only good thing about the pick is that it is a break from the Bush Administration policies that have so tarnished the great reputation of our city on a hill. There had been talk that Air Force General Michael Hayden would be kept on as CIA chief in the last few months. Liberal twits have been gnashing teeth over petty issues like whether that fat evangelical from California who happens to be anti gay should say a prayer at the inaugural, while big boy issues go right over their heads. But it seemed over the last few weeks increasingly that the only two options were to go in the direction of someone like Panetta, or keep on the former NSA Chief Hayden who was complicit in torture.
