Hey, Remember Iraq?
There is an old adage that offensive and defensive lineman are doing a good job if their names are never called during a football game. The same can be said of Iraq. One thing we have not been talking about lately as a country is Iraq. On one level that is bad for the troops. U.S. military personnel have consistently complained rightly that America has seemed to have forgotten about them. But on another level it’s because they have been doing a fantastic job. However much I disagreed with the initial invasion, and think the entire Iraq war is the worst foreign policy blunder in the history of the United States, it thankfully seems to be coming to an end. Sectarian violence is sharply down and American forces have begun the first steps toward pulling out of Iraqi cities.
Conservatives years ago used to paper over what a disaster the Iraq war was by saying that everything was actually fantastic there, and that it was just a matter of the bitter evil liberal political media under reporting all the wonderful things occurring in Mesopotamia. This is news that is under reported now, the problem is even conservatives aren’t paying attention anymore either.
