Warren Anger Misses The Forest For The Trees

The dog in the distance is asking a persistent question that nobody nor anything seems to be able to answer. The political press seems to have nothing to occupy it’s time with but silly questions and absurd controversies. Liberals who were just recently drunk with joy over the prospect of the coming Obama administration are now crying foul over the selection of Rick Warren for the Inaugural invocation. This you would think was old news, yet preening columnists still continue to harp on it. Now I am neither a fan nor a critic of Rev. Warren. I happen to disagree with his positions on gays, but I hardly care. Warren is positioning himself to be the Billy Graham of the 21st century and if any Daily Kos reading progressive thought that John Waters would be invited to do a religious invocation they are living in a fantasy world and are foolish. Warren will be making no policy changes and will have absolutely zero powers in the new administration. The day of the Inaugural is supposed to be one for all Americans and this is hardly the right fight to be picking. The real focus should be in the way Obama stacks his intelligence and defense establishment, and whether he will break with the rank violations of the fourth amendment when it comes to eavesdropping on Americans that marked his idiot predecessor. To be sure the treatment of gays in a fair manor should be a concern, but let the man serve as President for at least one day before you throw him under the intolerance bus.
