Having A Bright Yet Not White Christmas
“. . . in the lane, snow is glistening”
Not here it isn’t
“. . . a beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, walking in a winter wonderland.”
I again disagreed with the seasonal tones coming from the Publix Supermarket speakers as I walked in shorts and a t-shirt. While our west coast associate Jolemite made it out on the last plane to leave PDX, and most of the Northeast is encased in ice and fluffy snow, it was 77 today here in the Sunshine Empire. Now it will be chilly tomorrow but Christmas day is set to be a warm one the last I checked with my meteorologist. Growing up in a sunny and warm clime as a child caused a real disconnect with traditional Christmas images. A real bizarre right of passage every Christmas is passing by a business that has the fake spray on the window snow effect, in Florida. To a native Floridian like myself the idea of snowmen is as real as a sprite in Celtic mythology. So have fun with your snow and ice guys. But the song is still awkward.
