Charlie Crist Turns On McCain
We have been hard on our hometown Governor Charlie Crist. He seems to be a mixed bag when it comes to major issues. On offshore drilling and the evisceration of the property tax laws right before the bottom fell out of the housing market, we disagree with the Governor. Yet on voting matters, Governor Crist deserves praise for a true maverick streak. He moved quickly to replace touchscreen voting machines with a dubious lack of a paper trail, and moved the state’s primary date in an effort to break the unjust stranglehold that Iowa and New Hampshire have exerted. Now he has moved to extend early voting hours all seven days a week to alleviate long lines. It is generally accepted that this early voting process is helping Democrats a great deal in the sunshine state. Some have speculated that it is caused by Crist’s disenchantment with McCain now that he looks to go down in defeat. If only the Governor was not a Florida State grad, then he might be approaching allright.
