College Football Saturday And Politcal Sunday
The evening was humid on a level not really understood by non-Floridians in The Swamp tonight. It was as if I was in a real swamp tonight watching #5 Florida defeat Miami (FL). Family connections had me seated in the exclusive Champions Club for what was one of the better college football games I have attended in person that I can remember. The main questions on paper were with the defense. Last season they were barbecued by opposing offenses, while the offense earned then sophomore Tim Tebow the Heisman Trophy. By most accounts other than my friend Biggus, Florida had the best offense in the best league in college football. After two games against better than average (as compared to what Florida normally schedules in the first two games) competition, the Florida defense seems to be the more stellar side of the ball. Tebow had a terrific game on paper. Yet as Kenny Maine used to say, football is not played on paper it’s played inside TV sets. The offense did not move the ball at all until the final quarter. My hopes are rising for this squad.
The gloves seem to be coming off with Obama when it comes to Governor Hotness. Obama’s retort to McCain’s re-branding as a reform agent was more proof that he did not study at the John Kerry School of presidential campaigns. After the political plethora of Sunday morning excitement, I should have more on the campaign, then it’s Jaguars/Titans at 1:00 PM. But it is extremely late so that is all for now.
