Is There More Afoot In The Bhutto/Musharraf Caper?
Tonight I was reading some news from the Pakistani press talking about the pending candidacy of former PM Ms. Bhutto’s widower to the Presidency of Pakistan. Now when Ms. Bhutto was assassinated last year I was one of the few to think that Pervez Musharraf was not responsible. I have no love for General Musharraf but I did not understand how assassinating Ms. Bhutto was going to further his means. Afterward he resisted all calls to step down yet actually restored democracy with free and fair elections. When the Parliament of Pakistan was moving to impeach General Musharraf, he resigned Nixon style. But as Ms. Bhutto’s widower is now close to standing for the Presidency of Pakistan, it makes me think, what if someone assassinated huge Musharraf critic Bhutto as a way of actually removing Musharraf from power? This is not to say that General Musharraf is some kind of huggybear on the matter, I just have the sneaking suspicion that more is afoot.
