The Sunshine Empire

ABC News and The Huffington Post are both reporting that a Secret Service detail has been dispatched to Senator Joseph Biden’s house. This coupled with Senator Bayh and Governor Kaine being notified that they have not been selected means The Sunshine Empire called it. Biden’s trip to Georgia seemed to be the thing that tipped it for me. That trip was a calling card to take with him on the campaign trail and the political implications were clear to us. Sometime tomorrow he will be named the Democratic Vice Presidential candidate. He is Obama’s Cheney. For all of the Republican bluster about needing experience and all, it was Cheney joining the ticket that gave gravitas to a rich boy Connecticut born one-term Governor of Texas. If Biden will be anything, he’ll be a perfect hatchet-man. He was the one that noted early in the primary campaign that, “Rudy Giuliani… I mean, think about it! Rudy Giuliani. There’s only three things he mentions in a sentence — a noun, a verb, and 9/11. There’s nothing else! There’s nothing else!”  I personally look forward to the Vice Presidential debate now because it could be the best since Bentson/Quayle in ’88.
