The Veepstakes Are In The Homestretch

The Sunshine Empire has a crystal clear political track record during this election, and that has continued this week.  We’ve been speaking about our feeling that Delaware Senator Joseph Biden would be Barack Obama’s choice for Vice President, and predicted that he would be the choice after his trip to Georgia.  Now the political commentary and debate circuit are talking about Biden as the leader in the Veeptastic Veepstakes.  We hope to continue to be right on our feelings after reading the currents, but predicting political events is no more a sure science than gambling on toad races.

I’m less sure about the Republican side of the equation.  McCain’s people have been floating the serious idea that he could pick Tom Ridge or even Joe Lieberman.  Both are pro-abortion and that would turn the convention into something akin to the warfare in 1968 Chicago.  On CNN tonight David Gergen stated that he felt it was a dodge.  Romney makes sense but many seem to feel that McCain could do something drastically different.  Drastically different could be Lieberman, or it could be Toby Keith.
