The Sunshine Empire

The morning has been filled with news from John Edwards to the tragic murder of an American at the Drum Tower in Beijing.  With John Edwards the news that he has finally admitted to an extra-marital affair means that if anyone were seriously thinking of him as a Vice Presidential candidate, that talk ends now.  It also is yet another example of the National Enquirer producing real news.  What a bizarre world we live in.  The politics of it are one thing, and I can’t imagine they’ll have him speak at the Democratic National Convention.  He may still be able to be nominated to a cabinet post should Senator Obama win as Elizabeth still seems to be behind him.  Politics aside he seems like a real disingenuous tool to me after all of this. Fooling around on his wife while she has cancer, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, after all of his “son of a mill worker” tripe really does speak to two Americas. Just not the way John Edwards meant.
