Brownback Hates Chinese Domestic Spying, Loves American Domestic Spying
I’m often accused of being paranoid about China, yet I must say I don’t understand why the Communist society is shocking some with it’s restrictions on press and dictatorial attitude. Today has brought news that China has begun to instruct foreign hotel chains operating in Beijing that they must install security software to monitor electronic communications. Now I always stand against unlawful surveillance, but I was shocked to see Republican Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas on CNN’s American Morning raising holy hell about this egregious transgression. Senator Brownback insisted that even prevention of a terror attack was no excuse to justify this unlawful wiretapping. Now you may or may not know that Senator Brownback was in fact a supporter of the Protect America Act, that allows just that. Do as I say and not as I do as the Senator probably feels. The politics of the matter mean that you need to understand the full breadth of your positions before you grandstand on national television.
