On The Arrogance Of Obama
I would like to address a question to the readers as an honest question. Some have accused Senator Barack Obama of being elitist, and some have accused him of being arrogant. What exactly has he done in your mind that is so “arrogant.” John McCain and his wife are worth almost ten times as much as the Obamas, and John McCain’s chief economic adviser says that America’s economic woes are all in “whiners” heads. But why is Obama arrogant?

I believe, without a doubt, that any arrogance perceived in Barack is purely a function of one’s own political leanings. The right will continue its attempts to portray Obama as someone who thinks he’s better than others out of their own fears of him.
Now take into consideration the passing of the FISA legislation and imagine the fear running through the veins of those republiscums thinking about Barack Obama wielding all those powers, to spy on them!
Is that irony, that the rightwingers will fear the next President using all the powers that they allowed Chimpy to usurp?
I can’t wait to remind any republiscum that “If you speak ill of President Obama then you don’t support the troops and you are aiding our enemies”.
Running for president = Arrogance x 10^infinite
But I will admit that it is unfair to call only Obama arrogant.
I’m going to comment with links- sorry about the weird formatting.
I agree with Biggus. [universe begins collapse. expansion theorists panic en masse.] I think that any person who runs for president is arrogant – you HAVE to be to think that you can run the free world. So, it’s a job requirement, in my mind. Obama, McCain, the Clintons, Bush, Cheney – all of ‘em – they are all arrogant in some way or another. Otherwise they wouldn’t be trying for the office.
I think, however, that this bandying about of Obama as “arrogant” is pure spin, straight from the RNC. Calling him arrogant puts two things into play:
1) “arrogant” might be a veiled form of the racial epithet “uppity.” I’m not the only person who has noted this.

For those of us who don’t use such language or think in such terms, the word “arrogant” will float by, cause a little stir, but generally not mean much. However, to OTHERS, who DO use such language and who DO think in such terms, it might be a powerful marketing tool.
2) one of Obama’s great strengths is his almost preternatural calm. (I want that man in charge of the red phone!!) Political strategists will always take their opponent’s strengths and spin them into something spooky. “Yeah, his calm and collected under pressure and doesn’t need to carry talismans around with him like McCain does*, but isn’t that just so ARROGANT?”
And Saint Augustine – when you remind Republicans that “If you speak ill of President Obama then you don’t support the troops and you are aiding our enemies,” can I watch??
That’s going to be AWESOME.
