Everyone Is Disgruntled

The political commentary class are just a twitter today over the revelations in good old Scotty McClellen’s new book.  The White House retort is that McClellen is just disgruntled.  Perhaps, but his book does not tell anyone anything that they did not already know or suspect.  But more to the point of him being disgruntled, how is that a disqualification for the veracity of your claims.  Seems that everyone is disgruntled.  Richard Clarke, Paul O’Neil, Christie Whitman, Scott McClellen, Ricardo Sanchez, all are not telling the truth but simply disgruntled in the eyes of the White House.  They may be, but that is a gigantic amount of smoke for there to be no fire.

But if McClellen is telling the truth I think it’s more damning for him.  To play along with someone that you know to be lying, or a moron is inexcusable, and does not go away simply by writing a book to admit as such.  So he is either admitting to gross incompetence or lying, and both are not pleasant monikers.

I’d lean towards covering one’s ass after serving (fairly poorly) an unpopular President.
