TSE Top Ten Movie Countdown: #10 Doctor Strangelove
To provide some diversion from the monotony of the campaign season on the eve of the big Pennsylvania primary which will decide absolutely nothing, we are starting our second all time top ten. This time we will be running down the all time top ten movies in The Sunshine Empire. We start with the quintessential cold war doomsday comedy, Doctor Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb. The movie is a tour-de-force of performances from the great Peter Sellers. Sellers was playing multiple characters with ease before Eddie Murphy ever put on a fat suit. George C. Scott outperforms even his Patton performance with his portrayal of General Buck Turgidson, and the film even features such stars as James Earl Jones and Slim Pickens. What more do you need, what more do you want? Also, the big board is awesome. All of this and I even forgot to mention the great Stanley Kubrick’s direction.
