Swift-Boating Now Apparently Off Limits For Wing-Nuts
I was reading an article from Politico.com discussing how petulant Conservatives who where bitching and moaning and complaining are suddenly all pro-McCain now that the New York Times has taken a swipe at him. The enemy of my enemy is my friend I guess. But I found one line really amusing.
“The New York Times is trying to swift-boat McCain,” (Greg)Mueller said.
When conservative attack groups trotted out bitter Vietnam vets during the 2004 Presidential campaign to make charges that have been throughly debunked about John Kerry, conservatives had no issue. The good guys won so who cares if some eggs where broken and a veteran was smeared. If John Kerry had the balls to respond then it would have never been an issue and those men would only have to live with helping elect the worst President in the history of the Republic, and lying to the American public in the process. But now they freely use the “swift-boated” reference for their guys. Poor guys.

The self-important talk radio heads and the delusional set over at the NRO Corner rallying to McCain just because the big bad New York Times cracked him is precious. Their being indignant about someone using sex to attack for political purposes (hello Monica) is only revealing the desperation of the right. Their brand of politics is dying, and they are lacking any ability to debate on an honest level.
