McCain as savior and death knell of the GOP
There are two sides to the John McCain ascendancy that puzzle and fascinate me. The Senator has risen from the political dead during this election cycle in a way not seen since Richard Nixon’s return in 1968. He has captured the momentum going into Super Tuesday, and after we felt that the Republican party was headed to a brokered convention he has seemed to put that speculation to bed. Even The Sunshine Empire’s chief political adviser, a life long Democrat, stated that he could vote for him instead of Hillary if she is the presumptive nominee. Yet to hear establishment wing-nuts like Limbaugh and such, the Senator is worse than George McGovern.
The fact remains that in major polling, he is the only Republican candidate that polls higher than Obama and Clinton. The country is in a decidedly anti-Republican mood. With over 25 Republican House members retiring the Party would need to have pictures of Nancy Pelosi in bed with Hugo Chavez to have any hope of returning to power in the House of Representatives. The country also understands that Mitt Romney is more artificial than Clear Pepsi. The fact remains that McCain is the only hope. Yet Human Events feels that the early voting states are the next Axis of Evil. Recovering meth whore Ann Coulter states she would campaign for Hillary before voting for John McCain. The Republican establishment is pitching a tantrum and in the process eating itself alive. Go ahead and nominate Mitt and have a rerun of 1996.
I personally don’t have a huge issue with the Senator. In my young and rebelious days as a Republican in 2000, I was ready to vote for him in the Florida primary. If not for Bush and Rove’s slime job in South Carolina I might have had a chance to do so. Yet I lost faith in him when he morphed from Bush foil to Bush sycophant as the decade progressed. I also don’t feel it wise to elect a man that would be older than Ronald Reagan was when he was elected. That being said TSE Political Chief has a point in stating his fear of another run of the Bush/Clinton Dynasty bullshit. That’s damaging to our Democracy and will only lead to Jeb, Chelsea, and George P being further shoved down our throats.
Yet the wing nuts all in a tizzy is fine by me.

I have looked for an email link to send this comment but couldn’t find one. But since my previous comment about the their/they’re mix=up never appeared I’ll send this comment to here.
I find the black font on grey background very difficut to read. I confess to being 63 years old and wear bifocals, but I can’t implore you enough to find a better combination for the sake of my eyes.
Several years ago (before I even needed glasses) a new MBA graduate asked for my feedback about a newsletter she was trying to network/market to young professionals in Jacksonville. That paper publication had a blue type color on a blue background and made it difficult to read. I offered the same comment to her (which she laughed off) and was not surprised at the newsletter’s demise after it’s third issue!
