Primary Tuesday in The Sunshine Empire
It’s always a wonderful day when it’s election day in The Sunshine Empire. My civic duty was fulfilled, even though half of my ballot was a glorified straw poll (Thanks for that, fuck you Howard Dean). But with South Florida’s efforts to take away home rule for Northeast Florida it was an important ballot on state issues. South and Central Florida are forever trying to correct their mismanagement by burdening North Florida. But enough of local issues.
The Florida Primary should mark the death knell of the campaign of Mayor 9/11, as we have mentioned in the past. Everybody in the national political establishment wants to award the nomination to whichever Republican wins the Florida primary, but with Super enormous fantastic Tuesday coming on February 5th I don’t think that’s a lock to happen. With New York, California, and Alaska coming I don’t think losing Florida would be it, despite the momentum it would create.
We where intent on live blogging the State Of The Union last night, but after two Wild Turkey’s on the rocks we lost our momentum. The speech was unremarkable, with shockingly tepid responses from even the President’s own party. It’s a shame it’s his last one only for my wondering who would slobber on him from the aisle. This time it was Chris Shays, and just like his Connecticut buddy Lieberman he smooched another grown man on live television on the cheek. The reaction seems to be that he’s pretty much lost his house seat after that moment. He’s damn near the only Republican in the Northeast. I didn’t survive the end of the speech, instead switching to Tiger Woods ‘08 on the Wii.
We’ll try to check in tonight once the returns from the Republican Florida primary come in. Our personal un-scientific polling has revealed two votes for McCain and two for Ron Paul. Not much Mittmentum around so far as we can see.

Mittmentum is no match for McCainia or Paulitivity.
