WMD to Syria on 8 tiny Reindeer

Whenever the pesky fact that not one ounce of WMD were found in Iraq, despite the promises of most of the Bush administration, reluctant reactionaries fall back on a few tired premises. Some say that “we got it wrong, but so did the rest of the world.” Of course anyone willing to read what was actually said outside of the war-cheerleading press knows that the world was far from uniformity. Even the same German intelligence that gave us the knowledge of the now discredited “curveball” told us that his information could not be corroborated. Old Europe was against the incursion, as was the IAEA, and most of our Middle Eastern allies.

Yet once it became evident that what was a shaky case was absolute lies, a new story emerged. The super secret transfer of said stockpile of WMD to Syria. Those proved wrong and wrong and wrong again insisted that they had to be there, and the Syrians took them over. So they’re in Syria right? Or in Jordan as The Huck tells us last night? If that is the case, why have we not acted? Have I asked to many questions in a row? Let’s just forget that the Bush Administration’s own weapons inspectors have stated time and again that this is highly unlikely. It seems that before the manufactured war the right told us that the intelligence was the proof we needed to move. Now they insist that the intelligence, prepared by the same intelligence agencies that willingly went along with this boondoggle, are now secretly working against us just to prove the Bush administration wrong. I would ask anyone who subscribes to this utter fucking nonsense to provide one single shred of evidence beyond wild conjecture that the mountains of supposed WMD are sitting under Bashar Assad’s bed or something. It’s like believing in Santa Claus.
