The Sunshine Empire

Some quick thoughts on Iowa as I sit in The Sunshine Empire Election central.  With Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee winning the Iowa caucuses I can say that I am happy with the result.  Mitt Romney dumped millions of his money into Iowa to win in his manufactured campaign and he lost.  Obama is a black man in America that has won a Presidential primary.  Not only won, but won in an overwhelmingly white state.  Actually the Iowa accent is the same one that Richard Prior did all those years when imitating white people.  But regardless of what happens after Iowa this is a marvelous progression in American racial life.

The Huckabee win is wonderful in that it is bringing a fantastic populism to Republican politics and I think this is what is needed to bring back the party that I foolishly joined as a rebellious teen in 1994.  That being said he is still bat-shit insane and will ensure a Democratic victory in November if he is the nominee.  The other story is the third place finish of Freddie Thompson.  The story before the vote was that he was probably stepping down after the night if he did poorly.  He now has a modicum of momentum to carry his sleeping candidacy.
