Goodbye ‘007

Just like that 2007 is over and 2008 has begun.  I have to say that I am going to miss good old 2007.  But I have not been overly fond of any of the 00’s.  I had a better ’90’s and ‘007 was a year that I actually got lots of shit done and good tidings abounded.  I personally quite smoking and turned the financial situation from large debt to large savings.  But with me now being a non-smoker I have no idea what I should be giving up as a New Years resolution.  Some might say, “why don’t you give up Red Bull?” To those people I say I would sooner stab you in the neck.

For sports it has been a year of championships and records broken.  My Gators won a football and basketball National Championship, and a Heisman trophy all in the same calendar ‘07.  My Jaguars went 11-5 and Hank Aaron’s and the Miami Dolphins’ records fell.

Yet much more is to come in 2008.  But think back and realize that Y2K was 8 years ago, and you will feel old.  I know I do.  I still wonder why Conan O’Brien still does that “Year 2000″ bit anyway.  The Presidential election looms and the Iowa caucuses are in just two days.  There is now talk that with every candidate possibly getting equal percentages of the vote, everyone could walk away and still know nothing about the direction of the race.  That would at least make me right that the caucuses tell us nothing.    Also, now that 2008 is finally here my “2008” category could technically mean everything aside from a discussion of the Federalist Papers.

One thing the founding fathers would agree upon, is that the future is tomorrow.

  1. Ah yes, but the Coen Brothers would tell you that The Future Is Now!
