The lesser of two political commentary evils

I’m in a bit of a quandary when it comes to Mike Huckabee. On one hand he is bat-shit insane. George W. Bush might have spewed the crazy God talk to rope in the evangelicals, but Huck believes it. He may be having fake phone calls to God at Bush fund raisers, and wanting to have AIDS patients sent to leper colonies, but he sure as hell does not toe the “we have to still be behind Bush because he’s got an R next to his name” bullshit.

Yet he has referred to the administration having a bunker mentality for foreign policy, which it does, and he catches hell for it. Yet his people calling Rush Limbaugh out has proven what a crazy brainwashed hold he has over republicans and conservatives. This thrice married recovering drug user got his panties in a bunch and damned if the Huck didn’t bow down and kiss his ring in the press hoping to be able to talk to him and show his urge for forgiveness. Their criticisms of him where correct, but they bowed down in a way that Rush himself would be crowing about if it happened to involve Moveon.org and John Edwards. A real man like Chuck Hagel didn’t beg on his knees when El-Oxycontin-bo pitched a tantrum about him, he ignored him like the worm he is.

But we’re left having to take sides like watching Florida State play Tennessee, and we wish there was a “none of the above.”
