On politics and touchdowns for the man who should win the Heisman
I spent the afternoon in Gainesville for the Florida-Florida State football game. Many teams in many sports claim to have a rivalry that is the best in the nation, and I don’t think you can really judge such a thing if you’ve ever participated in one from the inside. Despite the records on both sides the atmosphere did crackle. With both school’s bands on the field, Hare Krishna’s dancing outside the stadium, and cheerleaders with batons lit on fire, it was a great experience. I even was able to chat politics with a former gubernatorial candidate for Governor. The Sunshine Empire knows a few people.
The game itself further proved that Tim Tebow should win the Heisman. With five touchdowns passing and receiving, and with one more touchdown pass will become the only 20-30 man, having thrown 29 touchdowns and rushed for 22. Chase Daniels had a wonderful night for Missouri so it will be close, but he will be in New York, a far cry from the swampy field back at Nease High School.
With the long weekend coming to a close the NFL will be center stage tomorrow. All to lead to the inevitable New England Super Bowl win. Ladi-fucking-da.
