On Amish Feelings and The Broken Tower
An interesting debate has been going around as to whether Congressional Democrats are not being harsh and drastic enough to stop the Iraq war. Democratic Presidential candidates insist they have the best withdrawal plan. Chris Dodd got so over anxious he promised to have them home by the end of Thanksgiving, 2005. But speaking purely politically, how badly would public sentiment react to that. Roughly 70% of the American public support some kind of departure from the cluster fuck in Mesopotamia. Yet tax dollars still continue to pour into that shit-hole. There is only 30% of the population that has some kind of vague support for the war continuing. This is mostly votes from retired Marines and Baptist preachers, but support none the less. Are these people going to overthrow the Democratic Congress with either an abortion rights supporter or Mormon on the Presidential Ticket next November? That would be like having a jewish senator from the Northeast on a Democratic Presidential ticket, oh wait, never mind.
I’ve got to start seeing more movies. I get into conversations and they mention movies that I wanted to see, but it’s like two years after it’s come out on DVD. It makes me feel Amish.
Looks like our mothership is down for good. We’ll continue here and should have a main machine by the end of next week. Until then I have to drive myself to carpel tunnel on this bizarre lappy keyboard.
I’ve come to the decision that I cannot stand any color commentator on any sports broadcast. I cannot stand watching football now, what with the screaming, nattering woman sitting next to him. Even when they lavish my particular team with praise for some statistic or whatnot, I still want to vomit. In the Eighties they tried a series of football broadcasts that had no voice accompaniment. The Game was just played with crown noise. I think we should return to that glorious time. Or just mute the TV and put on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side Of The Moon.
Take your pick.
