It’s time for Iraq to earn it’s freedom. Freedom it deserves.
Just and editorial comment for a moment. I know that we have many visitor from all across this great world of ours. Some come from the far east, and some like my good friend Crustle and Jolemite are regular dear friends. I know our blog shares the same name as a multi level marketing campaign scheme from Singapore, and we are happy that those people are exposed to the wonderment that is The Sunshine Empire blog. Our blog has reached very few people, but they are people that span the globe. I know we have regular readers from Singapore to St. Augustine. From the center of Asian commerce to the center of St. George Street. We have our old friends in Portland, and Chicago, and Denver, but we want you to know our little bullshit items from our mind right here in The Sunshine Empire. Where ever you may come from, we encourage you to comment on what you find amusing, or offensive.
In Asia, George W. Bush has shown the firs signs of actual dedication to democratic reform. He draped his bullshit Iraq boondoggle in the glorious cape of democratic reform, but there are many more important places where democracy is springing forth in beautiful ways. In Ukraine my boy Victor Yushchenko has shown his resolve in making the Orange Revolution work, despite the meddling of the Soviets and Pooty Poot (Vladimir Putin for those who do not know Bush-speak). Burma has shown the resolve of those brave and glorious monks that have stood in the way of that wretched military dictatorship. Lebanon’s people have stood up to the brass boot of Syria in their face and have said no more to the fucking optometrist in charge of that hell whole.
The Point is, is that democracy is earned and not bestowed by God Almighty. Before the first modern democracy was founded my countrymen had to give their own blood and sacrifice in the face of enormous peril. Democracy is not something that is given as a fucking Christmas present under a tree to just be plucked and taken and all of the sudden you are America or Canada. No democracy can be given as a secretary’s day present, it must be earend on the part of the people. Democracy is the will of the people. If the people don’t give a shit they have in effect made their democratic choice. They get what they deserve. Many people around the world have openly embraced the sacrifice that is the price for democracy. Democracy is the inevitable course of human progress. Many conservatives say, and I have a t-shirt that explains as much, that freedom is not free. But it is not something that can be purchased in a Sears. There is American blood on the ground in Lexington, Concord, Gettysburg, Normandy, and Baghdad. It’s time that those who truly want freedom take the torch and earn the right. It is a God given right, but God gives nothing for free.
