Robin Williams, Carlos Mencia, and a range of other thievery
I was reading a piece on The Huffington Post about it coming to light that Robin Williams stole material from other comics in the late ’70′s. This is no news and many like myself knew this. Yet the world pays little attention to people like Carlos Mencia that steal material on a regular basis. When the same subjects like the differences between the races, family life, single life, children, sex, and money are covered there is little else that mainstream comedians go into. The good ones do, but most do not. When you are set to these subsets of discussion there is obvious chance for crossing of sets. But even Williams himself admits to having used other comics and paid other comics for material. Great comics like Dave Attell are doing Good Morning Alabama, and people like Carlos Menstealia are being paid millions by Comedy Central. I guess the market has spoken.
