After reading today that 44 Republican Senators filibustered a bill that would require that soldiers get as much time at home training as the spend in the field I was astounded. Not one of them will skip a beat and begin bullshitting the locals about how we should support the troops. Lindsay Graham and John McCain are especially guilty of this having served in the military themselves. So more than a year and a half away from one’s family is fine with only 8 months back. The most egregious thing about the whole matter is that they did not even have the fucking balls to vote against the actual bill. They simply voted to continue discussion. The just will refuse to even bring it up for a vote. Political commentary on progressive, liberal, and conservative sides will paint this as a defeat for Democrats though. Liberal bastards. Just remember that all of this will be on display in November of 2008 when Republicans have to defend 32 Senate seats to the Democrats 12. You may just loose your cloture weapon as well, although it will matter little with a Democratic President in the White House. No matter how much you degrade the judgment of the American people in this matter, that is how democracy works. I’m going to get every one of those senators names and put them up.
