The Sunshine Empire

During an exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, there was a video that featured a snipit from Governor Ronald Reagan of California suggesting that some Vietnam war protesters where honorable, yet most were part of a vicious communist cabal meant to bring us down.  This man who went on to become the 40th President of the United States is lionized as Jesus Christ returned to Earth buy the average conservative and they all claim that he singlehandedly won The Cold War against the Soviet Union, the only other Superpower.

It occurred to me something astounding, what if he had?  Let’s just assume he had, and let’s look at the facts.  Reagan never attacked anyone but Grenada.  He felt the FISA law was just perfect and did not need to be changed.  KGB officers reached into the highest levels of the United States government clandestinely, and all wiretaps where done with a warrant.  Thousands of thermonuclear devices that were able to reach the homeland within a matter of moments were pointed and ready for launch in minutes.   The Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives was a personal friend of Reagan’s.  We left ourselves with our virtual asses adrift and defeated an enemy that walked among us and could do devestating damage to our way of life at a moments notice.  I am not talking about 3000 dead, I’m talking Missouri becoming the eastern seaboard type devastation.  Reagan also granted the amnesty of a few million Mexicans that has become the 11 million strong army of invasion that Neal Boortz and Rush “hillbilly heroin” Limbaugh are now decrying.  Reagan won by saying to us that we would win if we went with him, not die if we apposed him.

Now that being said I think Reagan’s legacy is as inflated as JFK’s.  Reagan violated federal law with his Contra fiasco, and the Nicaraguans ended up voting the Sandinistas out on their own.  Under George W. Bush’s stewardship they have managed to be elected back into office.   It is undeniable truth that Reagan sold weapons to the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran, and that guy is the first guy I would sell fucking guns to.  Kind of like locking Ted Bundy in Hooters.

Regan may have done some heinous but they were never to the American people.
