On bumper stickers on both coasts

I just returned yesterday from a whirlwind tour of Portland and Northwest Oregon, and it was a fun time had by all.  Mountains, good wine, trees, the Pacific Ocean, and singing on stage with strippers were just some of the things accomplished.  Yet even though we are one nation united, there are subtle differences you see up there, when you have been brought up in the South.  In this corner of the republic we still see those tired “W ‘04″ stickers on every gargantuan Expedition or Tahoe you pass.  You see nary a Kerry/Edwards sticker.  Never mind that we’ve already begun the 2008 election and both of the men that ran for the Presidency in 2004 would get less votes than a rhododendron at this point.  Yet in Portland there were plenty of “Impeach Bush” and “Kerry/Edwards” stickers on every bio-diesel capable Geo Tracker or Saturn.  It really is a certain type of personality that needs to express themselves on the back of their vehicle.  Even as I mock I have my pride for the University of Florida neatly framing my license plate.

The next big accessory for the 2008 election cycle should be static cling or magnetic political signs.  College football fans have used them for years, so they can say go gators on Saturday and still take the client out for lunch on Monday.  But whether you are pro Guliani or pro Clinton this coming Presidential election, no matter who wins or loses we both take them off.  Because leaving that on your car for years is just fucking retarded, no matter the party.
